Environment setup
Steps through Git are on your computer. The SFSU virtual machine and Git on that machine are the remote host where MESA runs. Docker is optional and only demonstrates a container workflow. Pick a topic below, or skip anything you already have. Day-to-day commands live on the Use index.
-
01
Toolchain (optional)
Install compilers if you will build scientific packages with native extensions.

Git
Install Git, set your identity, and connect to GitHub.
-
05

On jmbrewer, the remote host where MESA runs. VPN, SSH, and the shared install.
-

Git on the SFSU VM
On jmbrewer, set your name, email, and a GitHub key that stays on that machine.
-
07
Docker (optional)
Optional demo of a container workflow. Not required on your computer or on the SFSU VM.
